Pray For Our Cities

Hi, my name is Jim Collier and I want to welcome you to our website. We started Pray for Our Cities in 1994 with the mission of working for effective urban transformation. The two primary things we stay focused upon as we work for change is effective prayer and effective action. I am also one of the elders of a local community called Peniel and you can find out more about us by following the link marked community. Here is a teaching that is gaining popularity on the net that I did and it can serve as an introduction. You can also listen to it on our podcast by following the link.

KINGDOM – PLAIN AND SIMPLE

Jesus started His public ministry preaching the Kingdom. There is nothing more important for us to understand than God’s Kingdom. Since the understanding of the Kingdom is so important we present to you the Kingdom plain and simple.

Here are 6 statements that reveal the essence of the Kingdom:

1. The Kingdom of God equals The Love of God

2. The Kingdom is Love’s manifestation

3. God is Love

4. The Kingdom is the King’s dominion

5. God in Christ is the King

6. The Kingdom is Christ’s dominion – He is the King

The Bible reveals that God is Love. This God of love is manifesting His Kingdom upon the earth therefore the Kingdom is Love’s manifestation. The Kingdom of God equals the Love of God. Even if it does not look like Love it must be because God is love and the Kingdom is His Kingdom.

What is the Kingdom?

The Kingdom is simply the King’s dominion. It is His will being done on earth as it is in Heaven. Who is the King? God in Christ is the King. When He came to earth in the person of Jesus of Nazareth the people wanted to make Him an earthly king but He revealed that His Kingdom encompasses both heaven and earth. He said “my Kingdom is not of this world” meaning that it did not originate from here nor could it be contained here.

The Kingdom is Christ’s dominion because He is the King. He is Lord of heaven and earth. How does the knowledge of this work out practically in our lives? What is the process of the working of the Kingdom? And how do we tap into it consistently so we receive Kingdom results?

There are 4 principles to keep in mind that are based upon Matthew 13.

1. God initiates the Kingdom and the processes necessary for the Kingdom to be worked out or manifested in this world. The Word is sown.

2. The Kingdom is first manifested in the hearts of people and then people under the influence and/or in cooperation with the King release the Kingdom into the world.

3. God, the King works simultaneously in our lives in a process best described as chaos but all leading to something. (spirit, soul and body salvation)

4. The process leads to convergence where there is breakthrough of the Kingdom into this realm. (We need to become aware of this process so we can cooperate with it)

How Do You Tap into This Process Consistently and Receive Kingdom Results?

There are 6 Principles to Keep in Mind:

1. Consistently receive and live in a perpetual state of God’s forgiveness.

2. Receive forgiveness through prayer (vertical and then horizontal)

3. Be consistent and persistent in your praying – do not faint.

4. Remember that God is love and when He shows up He shows up in and with love.

5. Remember that God comes with the benefits of Redemption – which is forgiveness of sin and prosperity, healing and wholeness – abundance.

6. Remember that the end result of all of this is freedom – freedom from the tyranny and bondage of sin – there is freedom in Christ – Romans 8:1-2 – the Message.

How do you practically experience the Kingdom and work with God to establish it upon the earth?

1. Pray – communicate beyond worry

2. Receive – Hear God’s voice

3. Experience – Act on what you hear – this is faith and will give God the opportunity to demonstrate His Kingdom reign

I hope all of this is clear to you. We believe in the Kingdom plain and simple. As we experience God in all of His fullness then we are released to be faithful witnesses of this reality in our lives.
